Keukenhof is about 40 minutes from central Amsterdam, near Lisse. With your own chauffeur you arrive before the tour buses, stop at the bulb fields on the way and leave when you have seen enough. Most guests book four to five hours.

The day

A typical Keukenhof tour

  1. Pick-up at your hotel, ideally around 8:30 to beat the crowds.
  2. Keukenhof gardens: two to three hours among the tulips, hyacinths and daffodils.
  3. Bulb fields between Lisse, Hillegom and Noordwijkerhout, with stops where the colours are best that week.
  4. Back in Amsterdam in the early afternoon, or on to the coast or Haarlem.

Before you book

  • Keukenhof opens for about eight weeks in spring. In 2026 the season ran from 19 March to 10 May; check the dates for your year on keukenhof.nl.
  • Buy your entrance tickets online in advance. They are not included in our price.
  • The fields bloom in waves. Early in the season you see crocuses and daffodils, tulips peak from mid-April.
  • Please do not walk into the bulb fields: they belong to the growers.

A half-day Keukenhof tour of four to five hours is the usual booking. Add the coast or Haarlem and it becomes a full day.

How long does the drive take?

About 40 minutes from central Amsterdam, longer on spring weekends when the roads around Lisse are busy.

Can we combine Keukenhof with Schiphol?

Yes. Keukenhof lies between Schiphol and the coast, so it fits well before an evening flight or after an early arrival. Luggage stays in the car.

Is the tour possible outside the season?

Keukenhof itself is only open in spring. Outside the season we suggest Zaanse Schans and Volendam, or a city tour.
